” Silhouette”
These necklaces and earrings were created after I became mesmerized by the razor sharp shadows of the chains of an antique Frisian clock, from the rays of sun hitting the wall. This clock has been passed down from my grandparents and hangs in my living room, where the wind rocks the long weighted-down chains slowly back and forth. It is a simple and tranquil image that kept wandering around in my head.

The jewelry pieces are made with a round silver tube as a base, sawn into rings using a lathe and scroll saw. The rings are bent into oval shapes with a tribolet tool. The larger ovals are made of silver sheet material. The rings are sanded, fitted with holes, then annealed and optionally oxidized. The ovals are connected by pieces of nylon cord, the ends of which are melted into balls. This technique makes the necklaces particularly strong and flexible and allows for movement with the body, just like the chains of the clock swaying in the wind.
