The inspiration for this piece of jewelry lies in the so-called bundles of power – Nkisi Mpiya – which originated in Central Africa. These magical objects made of various materials (such as bamboo, metal, shells, clay, skin, glass, and plant fibers) are bundled together and offer the wearer protection from evil forces.
Memories provide strength in life.
This “powerbundle” is created from various found objects from different origins that I’ve collected over the years.
Each object carries its own emotion or memory. By combining these objects, it forms a powerful piece that provides strength and inspiration.
Six different found objects are attached to an oval silver ring using nylon cord, glass beads, and pieces of lead: a piece of rusty iron, driftwood, a seed ball, a piece of fur, rusty barbed wire, and a piece of balsa wood sanded into shape. A shell is mounted on the oval ring with silver clay and glue.
The amber, which serves as balance and stability for the bundle of power, has been ground into shape from a rough stone. The amber is connected to the bundle by a string of glass beads.
You can carry the bundle with you by taking the piece of amber in your hand or by draping the piece of jewelry around your neck.
